    NEWLYN MALE CHOIR NEWSLETTER MAY 2011.

    Dear Friends of N.M.C.

    It is with deep sorrow that I have to announce the death of Mr Brian Gendall who died on Tuesday 10th May. He will be missed, he was chairman of the choir for many years and did a lot of hard work, we will also miss the jokes he told at the choir dinners. Our thoughts and prayers go to Christine and the family at this time. The funeral was on Wednesday 18th May at High Street Chapel Penzance at 1pm.

    We had a good start to the new year with our new musical director Mr David Hamilton who is teaching us new music, the first concert was at the Trinity centre Newlyn on May 8th 2011 at 2-30pm.

    From then on there concerts at:

  • Sunday June 19th Golowen Civic Service St Johns Church Penzance at 11-00.am.
  • Wednesday June 22nd ‘Mousehole Cat’ concert. Newlyn Male Choir, Mousehole MVC and School Children. Methodist Chapel, Chapel Street Penzance at 7pm.
  • Sunday July 24th St Elwyns Church Hayle Combined concert with St Buryan and Praze Hayle at 7.30pm.
  • Saturday July 30th Buccas fair there will be more details later.
  • Sunday September 18th 90th Years of the choir conert at St Marys Church Penzance. Possible Commemoration event at Penlee Quarry Newlyn in the Afternoon.
  • Sunday December 4th Advent Concert more details later.
  • Sunday December 18th Queens Hotel Christmas Draw and Carols.

    • We had our Annual General meeting on February 28th The new committee are:

  • President Cmr K Northey.
  • Chairman Mr B Green.
  • Accompanist Mrs M Ray.
  • Treasurer Mr R Rodda.
  • Secretary Mr B Marshall.
  • Asst Secretary Mr P Trembath.
  • Patrons Sec Mr M George.
